One of the most drought tolerant ground covers in the world, surviving in the most arid of regions, including areas surrounded by concrete, in areas of reflected sunlight, and areas where water is sometimes scarce.
Fireproof
Grows low to the ground and doesn’t produce woody brush. Kurapia will not burn when green, even with embers and flames.
Self Replenishing
Can recover from extreme damage, stress, and injury. If the plant is temporarily denied sunshine, it will turn yellow but within a few weeks will be fully green again. If a section is cut by gardening equipment or heavy objects, the plants will grow into the vacant areas and refill.
Salt tolerant
Proven to survive on high levels of salt and mineral content from proximity to brackish conditions (such as coastal and island plantings) or due to reclaimed water.
Slope & erosion control
Can grow at extreme slope conditions, holding back soil runoff from heavy rainfall and irrigation run off. Even in situations where additional soil runoff covers the Kurapia, the plant will grow through the new soil and anchor it into place.
